Jeffrey Katzenberg sfida Hollywood sul 3D

Nel corso del 3D Entertainment Summit, Jeffrey Katzenberg si è detto meravigliato del fatto che Hollywood non ha ancora colto l’occasione di puntare il tutto per tutto sui film live-action in 3D.
“Trovo molto strano come il business del live-action sia lento e non abbia ancora colto al volo questa opportunità – ha detto il capo della Dreamworks Animation, nonché uno dei più grandi pionieri del nuovo 3D – In un business dove alcuni elementi affondano come pietre in acqua, arriva improvvisamente un’idea per incrementare gli investimenti e creare enormi possibilità. Perché ogni Studio non sta facendo ancora tre, quattro o cinque film in 3D… è una cosa che non riesco a spiegarmi”.
Secondo Katzenberg Avatar di James Cameron farà per il 3D quello che Il mago di Oz ha fatto per il colore. Pare che Mostri contro alieni in 3D abbia aumentato la percentuale di guadagno del 30%: “Ora quello è piccolo numero – ha continuato Katzenberg – ma noi pensiamo che diventerà più alto nel 2010. Se si è innovativi e intraprendenti e si pensa al cliente, finirete per avere un nuovo business fenomenale. Se non lo sarete e rimarrete intrappolati in vecchi modelli, vi sfuggirà tutto quanto di mano”. Riuscirà Katzenberg a convincere Hollywood che il futuro è in 3D? Ma soprattutto Avatar di James Cameron batterà ogni record d’incasso?
