Adesso, invece, arriva la notizia che Scott potrebbe dirigere l’attore nell’adattamento di Il lupo di Wall Street (The Wolf of Wall Street), tratto dal libro autobiografico dell’ex broker Jordan Belfort ed edito in Italia da Rizzoli. Inizialmente il film era stato offerto a Martin Scorsese che sarebbe tornato a lavorare col suo pupillo Leonardo per l’ennesima volta. Avrebbero dovuto realizzarlo due anni fa, ma alla fine hanno preferito girare Shutter Island. Il grande Marty rimarrà comunque come produttore insieme alla Appian Way di DiCaprio.
Attualmente il progetto è ancora alla ricerca di un budget e di un distributore, ma Sir Ridley ha adorato il copione di Terry Winter (sceneggiatore de I Soprano e dell’imminente serie TV Boardwalk Empire). DiCaprio sarà Belfort, fondatore della Stratton Oakmont meglio conosciuta come la "Disneyland dei broker”, gente addestrata a spremere per bene i loro clienti e indurli a comprare azioni che riempiono le loro tasche. E intanto il protagonista navigherà nel lusso, tra case negli Hamptons, otto Ferrari e naturalmente sesso e droga. Non è ancora chiaro quando Scott potrà girare il film, dal momento che il regista è impegnato nella pre-produzione dei prequel di Alien.
