La pellicola di Philippe Garrel è un’estate afosa e torrida, irrespirabile. Un clima insensato che non riflette alcuna stagione

Monica Bellucci e Louis Garrel in Un été brûlant

La tanto attesa scena di nudo della Bellucci si consuma tutta nei primi minuti. Quello che l’attrice ha definito “un atto d’amore nei confronti del film” altro non è che un’inquadratura classica di una posa già vista di una bellezza che, complice il parto allora da poco avvenuto, non è neanche folgorante. Orfano del suo momento caldo Un été brûlant seguita poi con il suo racconto forse d’amore, forse d’amicizia, probabilmente di vita, sicuramente di noia. Il film di Garrel porta le sue due coppie protagoniste in Italia e gli lascia vivere esistenze decadenti e svogliate in cui l’analisi delle loro vicende sentimentali troppo spesso si appoggia al luogo comune. Come nelle barzellette, ma con il peso di un lutto anticipato fin dalla prima inquadratura, è dato il gruppo dei personaggi: ci sono un ragazzo ricco con l’estro da pittore, sua moglie, una donna più grande di lui che sta tentando di fare l’attrice, un suo amico e la sua fidanzata smagrita con tendenze suicide.
I quattro da Parigi si trasferiscono in una Roma estiva e crepuscolare in cui, curiosamente, continuano a bussare alla porta solo personaggi francesi. Louis Garrel in coppia con la Bellucci dà vita ad un matrimonio in crisi poco credibile al punto da causare ilarità nelle scene di dramma, e non solo per via della rinomata staticità dell’attrice. Il vizio di forma è più profondo, passa dalla struttura narrativa, piena di svolte del tutto immotivate, e arriva dritto nel cuore dei dialoghi che oscillano tra l’insensatamente patetico e il gratuitamente politico, con una sfumatura di Sessantotto in entrambe i casi. Un’offesa a Sarkozy, un invito a tenersi lontani dagli “sbirri”, una sfuggente genuflessione in chiesa, perché, si sa, gli italiani sono cattolici. Forse non aiutati da una solida struttura di base, forse fuori parte a prescindere, magari non adatti al metodo Garrel per cui ogni scena può essere ripetuta al massimo per due ciak, gli attori non resistono e si lasciano manovrare come marionette destinate ad andare fuori sincrono rispetto alla lucida capacità di pensiero dello spettatore.
Ne risulta un grottesco teatrino, spontaneo ma non per questo giustificabile per le continue sbavature. La vita e la morte mettono allora a segno i loro colpi, naturalmente gobbi, in modo che il sipario possa calare di poco oltre il punto in cui era stato alzato. Anche il pubblico può allora trovare pace: partono i titoli di coda.
